US President Barack Obama met at the White House Tuesday President of Iraqi Kurdistan, Massoud Barzani, praising the "courage" peshmerga, in the face of state regulation and stressing at home to the unity of Iraq within a democratic federal system.During a meeting with Barzani, Obama and Vice President Joe Biden to regional president reiterated US support for "strong and sustained" for Iraqi Kurdistan and the Kurds of Iraq, according to a White House statement.
He also stressed their commitment to an Iraq "united, democratic and federal."
For his part, Barzani thanked the United States for "significant" military support provided by the Peshmerga, in coordination with the Iraqi government, according to the statement.
The last visited Barzani to Washington to April 2012.
Kurdish Peshmerga troops entered the north to some areas vacated by Iraqi security forces at the launch of state regulation offensive in northern Iraq, which receive arms from Britain, France and the United States.
